Hundreds of protesters have gathered in downtown Madrid calling on the country's highest court to suspend a new abortion law allowing terminations without restrictions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy on grounds it is unconstitutional.
The law is due to take effect July 5 but the Constitutional Court has agreed to hear an appeal lodged by the conservative opposition Popular Party. Rally organizers spokeswoman Cristina Lopez said more than 50 percent of Spaniards were against the new law. (AP)
