Egypt to try 2 policemen charged with brutality

Egypt's prosecutor general says two plainclothes policemen charged with illegal arrest and brutality in the death of an Alexandria businessman will face trial in a case that has drawn attention from governments and human rights activists.

Khaled Said died on June 6. Witnesses said the two policemen dragged Said out of an internet cafe and beat him to death. But two state autopsies insisted Said died of suffocation after swallowing a packet of drugs. The autopsy results were met with derision and international calls for a transparent investigation after photos of Said's body were circulated, showing his mangled face. (AP)
