Cabinet okays extended jurisdiction for Turkel Commission
The cabinet unanimously authorized the jurisdiction of the public commission for the investigation of the Gaza-bound flotilla raid headed by retired Judge Jacob Turkel.
The commission thus is granted to authority to summon witnesses and swear them in prior to giving testimony. The decision does not apply to IDF soldiers and maintains the independence of the military investigation being conducted under Giora Eiland. (Roni Sofer)
