Ministers reject Knesset approval for construction freeze bill

None

The Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs rejected a bill proposal submitted by Carmel Shama (Likud), which would have made a Knesset vote necessary for extending the settlement construction freeze in the West Bank after the current freeze expires on September 26.

The proposal was voted down by a majority mustered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to prevent pressure against him just before he leaves for Washington. (Roni Sofer and Aviad Glickman)
