Minister Benny Begin said he voted against the proposal which would have required Knesset approval of any extension of the West Bank settlement construction freeze because "it is not desirable. The aim does not justify all means." He said to Ynet that "the bill aimed to influence the division of labor between the executive and legislative branches," and that has far-reaching consequences.
"There is no connection between my vote and my believe that the freeze should come to an end at the date already determined," he added. "At the end of the period, the (freeze) order must be lifted and building must commence." (Roni Sofer)
