Egypt police kill Eritrean at border with Israel

Egyptian police shot and killed a 36-year-old Eritrean man trying to cross Egypt's border into Israel on Wednesday, a security source said.

Egyptian police have killed at least 20 migrants along the border so far this year, up from 19 during all of 2009. The border is known to be a major transit route for African migrants and refugees seeking work or asylum in Israel. On Tuesday, police shot and injured two Nigerian migrants trying to cross into Israel, the source said. (Reuters)
