Obama calls Abbas, says working towards Palestinian state
US President Barack Obama telephoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday evening and promised to exert every effort towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
According to the report, the American and Palestinian presidents discussed recent developments in the Middle East and the peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians following Obama's meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week. (Roi Kais)
