Eiland Committee: IDF not prepared for resistance

None

The Eiland Committee that probed the deadly raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla ruled in its report that the Navy was only prepared for the possibility of reasonable resistance, and was unprepared for violent resistance from the people on board the ship.

However, the report noted that even after the commandoes realized the conditions on the ground did not fit their estimates, they did not reevaluate their way of action. Retired Navy General Eiland noted on the report that the Navy should have realized that the situation does not match their assessment, and examine its response in a reasonable manner that reflects the reality on the ground.
