US official: Iranian scientist to return to Iran

Iranian nuclear scientist Shamram Amiri, who vanished during a pilgrimage, turned up at Pakistan's embassy in Washington on Monday and has decided to return to Iran "of his own free will," a US official confirmed on Tuesday.

"Mr. Amiri has been in the United States of his own free will and has decided to return to Iran of his own free will," the US official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. (Reuters)
