Bill for revoking MK Bishara's pension passes preliminary reading

A bill calling to revoke the pension of former Knesset Member Azmi Bishara's pension was approved in a preliminary reading in the Knesset with a majority of 41 in favor and nine opposed.
According to the bill, a former MK or serving MK will stop receiving their wages or any other payments if they fail to appear for questioning or court when suspected of serious offences. The former MK Azmi Bishara was questioned on suspicion of assisting Hezbollah, but fled the country and continues to receive his Knesset retirement payments. (Attila Somfalvi)
