US ready to talk to N. Korea in right circumstances

The United States is ready to talk to North Korea under the right circumstances but wants Pyongyang to reject "its provocative ways" and embrace a path to "denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula, the top US diplomat for East Asia said on Thursday.
"The United States and South Korea have always maintained ... that we are prepared under the right circumstances, to sit down in a dialogue with North Korea," Assistant Secretary of State Kurt Campbell told reporters before US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton travels to South Korea next week.
