Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi spoke at the government session on proposed budget cuts to the defense establishment and expressed their opposition to the move.
Barak said a cut "would sent the wrong message to an elite group of people how choose to serve their country." Ashkenazi echoed the sentiment saying the Treasury was "de-legitimizing servicemen in the public's eye." (Roni Sofer)
