Interior Ministry official: Out of 3,500 infiltrators only 2 refugees

Interior Ministry official Yossi Edelstein said during a cabinet debate that there are close to 27,000 African infiltrators residing in Israel who consider themselves refugees, but that an examination of 3,500 of them suggests only two who meet refugee criteria.
A Finance Ministry representative said that "Israel is becoming an attractive destination for infiltrators" since wages are considerably higher in the country than in Egypt. (Roni Sofer)
