President Shimon Peres said to Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, "It is important that Abu Mazen (Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas) knows that Israel's hands are outstretched for real peace because of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's intentions to start direct talks and significantly promote peace."
Papandreou, the first Greek prime minister to visit Israel in 30 years, said to Peres, "We fought for peace, and I would personally like to help bring peace to the region." The Greek leader will meet with Abbas in Ramallah. (Roni Sofer)
