Kyrgyzstan seeks $1.2 billion in aid

The government of Kyrgyzstan is appealing for more than a billion dollars in aid to rebuild the country after months of political and ethnic violence.

Representatives for dozens of countries were attending a donor conference on Tuesday in the Kyrgyz capital to consider the aid request by the caretaker government, which is trying to keep the turbulent country stable until parliamentary elections in October. (AP)
