Bank of Israel buys $20 million

The Bank of Israel purchased some $20 million Wednesday. Currency traders said the intervention of the Bank's President Stanley Fischer was intended to show the market that "the Bank of Israel is here."
Since March 2008, the Bank has purchased tens of billions of dollars to prevent the weakening of the US currency and to prevent hurting exporters as a result of a strong shekel. (Shaham Levi, Calcalist)
