Diego Maradona says Carlos Bilardo 'betrayed' him
Diego Maradona says the decision to no longer coach Argentina was not made by him and accused national team director Carlos Bilardo of betrayal.
Speaking for the first time since Argentine officials declined to renew his contract, Maradona said Wednesday that Bilardo worked in the shadows to get rid of him. Bilardo was the coach of Argentina and Maradona its star player when the team won the World Cup title in 1986. (AP)
