IDF: Ashkelon rocket not necessarily an escalation
None
Colonel Eitan Yitzhak, commander of the Home Front Command's southern district, said in response to the rocket which hit Ashkelon on Friday morning that "when a siren is sounded, residents must enter a fortified area and remain inside for five to 10 minutes."
Friday's incident is the first of its kind since 2009, and according to Israel Defense Forces officials, it does not necessarily mark an escalation in the region. (Hanan Greenberg)
