"We are working to ensure that violence due to homophobia will be recognized as violence based on hatred of the other, of the different," Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar said during a ceremony marking one year since the murder in a gay youth club in Tel Aviv. "Educational
material has been and is being prepared for studying sexual identity and gender in schools and high schools."
In addition to applause, shouts of protest were heard asking why the minister was not present during the Pride Parade in Jerusalem on Thursday. "Why didn't you come to Jerusalem? We should have rights in Jerusalem too. Youths have a right to be gay in Jerusalem too," some members of the crowd called. (Boaz Fyler)
