Colombia says it never thought to attack Venezuela

Colombia rejected on Saturday accusations by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez that Bogota was planning to attack neighboring Venezuela, saying the socialist leader was deceiving his people with such charges.

 

The Andean countries have faced off over allegations by Bogota that Chavez's government harbors Colombian rebels in camps in Venezuela. Chavez said on Friday he had sent troops to repel a possible Colombian assault. (Reuters)
