A Turkish soldier on security patrol was killed in the southeastern province of Dogubayazit on Thursday in a clash with rebels of the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) state-run news agency Anatolian reported.
The attack took place in the town of Agri, it said.
PKK rebels have recently stepped up attacks on Turkish security forces since ending a 14-month ceasefire at the start of June. They accuse the government of not being serious in its bid to boost Kurdish minority rights and bring to an end an insurgency that began in 1984. (Reuters)
