Halted marchers again head to Jericho

After rightists forced on board bus, detained for questioning after authorities declare march illegal, they embark on route to Jericho once again

After being dispersed earlier on Sunday, around 100 right-wing activists, many of them teens, are again making their way to Jericho.

"We, about 100 marchers, are currently near Har Bracha," said Meir Bratler, one of the march's organizers, to Ynet. "No attempt to stop us will succeed. We are continuing on our way in accordance with the original plan."

Earlier, the activists had attempted to form a march Sunday from Shvut Ami settlement to Jericho, but security forces detained them claiming that the march was illegal.

Seven of the marchers were detained for questioning, and later 31 were forced to board a bus and were then dispersed at various locations.

The march, organized by three right-wing organizations who say their aim is to return to "the land of the forefathers", was halted completely just a few hours after leaving the West Bank settlement.

The organizers planned to lead the activists on a three-day hike ending in Jericho, which is located in the Palestinian Authority's territory.

After they were detained, however, they claimed security forces had not provided them with a reason for stopping the march.

"They told us we were endangering ourselves and the transportation, but no reason was given for the detainment," one of the activists told Ynet. "Dozens of teens were halted, placed on military vehicles, and dispersed in different locations."

MK Michael Ben Ari (National Union) also participated in the march, and told Ynet that "when Netanyahu froze construction, he froze the freedom of movement of settlers in Judea and Samaria in a brutal way, in contrast with the Palestinians, who move around freely".
