International artists present works in Jerusalem
Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Arts and Crafts Festival at Sultan's Pool in capital features works by more than 150 Israeli and international artists, well as international food stalls and creative workshops
The 35th International Arts and Crafts Festival features works by more than 150 Israeli and international artists at Sultan's Pool in the Old City of Jerusalem through August 14.
Known as "Hutzot Hayotzer" in Hebrew and named after the small arts and crafts lane open year-round at the foot of the Old City Walls, the fair features works from Israeli and international artists, as well as international food stalls and creative workshops.
The festival also showcases dance performances and musical concerts by Hadag Nahash, Mosh Ben-Ari, Church of Reason, David Broza, Aviv Geffen and Ivri Lider.
Also, theater groups from Colombia, Korea, Poland, Romania, Thailand and India perform at the fair's International Pavilion at 7:30 pm every festival evening.
"The International Arts and Crafts Fair is one of Israel's most anticipated summertime events," says Arie Sommer, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America. "And in its 35th year, the festival has and will continue to attract thousands of travelers from around the world to experience this one-of-a-kind celebration of the arts."
The festival's Bezalel Compound will include an animation and indie-film presentation alongside artistic works of design, painting, sculpture, pottery, glass, metal, photography and fashion from the famous Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
