Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who has dominated Turkish politics for a decade, said he would quit as leader of the AK Party should it lose a general election due by July next year.
The outcome of the election is uncertain, and a national referendum on the government's proposed constitutional reforms, set for Sept. 12, could determine whether the momentum is with or against Erdogan. (Reuters)
