Hamas, Palestinian groups vote against direct talks

Hamas and Damascus-based Palestinian groups voted against direct negotiations between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
A statement issued by the groups said that a return to direct talks would amount to yielding to American demands and Israel's wish to undermine the Palestinians' rights. The Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front – General Command were among the groups which signed the statement. (AFP)
