Progress in efforts to launch direct talks: Palestinians
The Palestinians have made further progress towards relaunching direct talks with Israel following a meeting with US officials, a Palestinian spokesman said Sunday.
"There has been progress up to this point," Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina told AFP late Sunday following talks with deputy US envoy David Hale in the West Bank town of Ramallah. "The official Palestinian position will be made public after the Quartet statement," he said, referring to the diplomatic group composed of the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia.
