IDF bombs targets in Gaza

Air Force targets tunnels, rocket-launching area after two soldiers wounded by mortar fire

Palestinian sources reported that Israel carried out airstrikes in Gaza Tuesday, after two soldiers were injured by mortars that exploded near the border fence earlier in the day.

The strikes targeted tunnels in the southern Strip as well as open spaces near Khan Younis, from whence rockets have been fired towards Israel.

No injuries were reported to have resulted from the strikes.

On Tuesday morning two IDF soldiers were lightly wounded by mortar shells fired from the Gaza Strip, which landed in the Eshkol region in the western Negev.

The wounded troops, who were engaged in engineer work at the time of the incident, were taken to the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba in an IDF helicopter. Soldiers at the site fired back at the source of the fire.

The Palestinians directed the mortar fire towards the same area where a soldier was lightly wounded on Monday. The incident followed an IDF attack that killed an Islamic Jihad operative terrorist.
