British minister: We always respected Iran's right to nuclear power

Following reports of the launching of Iran's nuclear plant, British Undersecretary of State at the Foreign Office Alistair Burt said sanctions against Iran were not intended to prevent the building of the nuclear site at Bushehr.
The British minister said the UK has always respected Iran's right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, but also entreated Iran to renew contacts with the powers in order to calm fears in the international community. (AFP)
