Knesset committee opposed to politicization of IDF chief appointment

The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee discussed the public storm kicked up by the "Galant document" and announced immediately at the end of the police investigation of the affair that the defense minister and the chief of staff will be summoned to appear before the panel.
Most of the committee's members expressed their opposition to the politicization of the appointment process for the chief of staff post. However, they noted that the decision must not be placed in the hands of the Knesset. (Attila Somfalvi)
