Lawmaker: Irish dissidents target British mainland

A British lawmaker said Sunday that he has been told that dissident Irish republicans are planning attacks on English soil, and are targeting this fall's Conservative Party conference.
Patrick Mercer, a former officer in the British Army who speaks frequently on security issues, said his contacts in Northern Ireland say dissidents are looking to "draw attention" to the republican cause. (AP)
