The Lebanese army warned against efforts to stir up sectarian strife after a Sunni-Shi'ite clash on Tuesday left three people dead, in the worst street fighting in Beirut since May 2008.
"The army command ... affirms that it will not be lenient in going after those involved (in Tuesday's clash)," the army said in a statement on Wednesday. "At the same time it urges people not to be dragged into attempts to inflame sectarian strife between the sons of the united community." (Reuters)
