Abbas: Direct negotiations historic opportunity
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that renewing direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians was an "historic opportunity" to achieve peace.
Abbas, who spoke during a diplomatic reception ceremony in Ramallah, urged the Israeli government "not to miss out on this historic opportunity." He also stressed that the demand to freeze the construction in settlements came from the international community as a whole. (AFP)
