Security Council demands end to rapes

The UN Security Council is expressing outrage over recent mass rapes in Congo and calling on all parties in the armed conflict there to immediately cease all sexual violence against civilians.
The council also called Thursday on the Congolese government to investigate the attack last month in the country's east and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The statement comes amid criticism that more was not done to prevent the rape of nearly 200 women and boys. (AP)
