Rabbinate to discus decision to bypass city rabbis in marriage registration

None

The Chief Rabbinate Council will discuss the chief rabbi and State Prosecutor's Office's decision to allow registration for marriage in any city, regardless of city of residence. The decision offers a solution to the problem of rabbis who refuse to recognize State conversions.

The ITIM Jewish Life Information Center, a petitioner against marriage registrars who refuse to register converts, opposes the decision and considers it an attempt to bypass the problem. The institute's Dr. Shaul Farber said, "Any solution that does not recognize the full rights of any convert to live as a Jew is unacceptable." (Ynet)
