Peres asks Pope's help in Shalit release efforts
President Shimon Peres asked the help of Pope Benedict XVI in efforts to release captive soldier Gilad Shalit. The president's office said that the Pope agreed to help to the best of his ability.
The two met in the Pope's summer residence and discussed the Washington peace summit and the Iranian nuclear program. (Roni Sofer)
