UN chief 'very encouraged' by Mideast peace talks
The UN Secretary-General says he's very encouraged and happy about the first direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians in nearly two years.
UN chief Ban Ki-moon, speaking to reporters in Vienna, said he hoped both sides would continue to work "sincerely" and with a sense of flexibility and pragmatism. He also called on countries in the region and the international community to work together to facilitate the peace process and said it was important that Abbas be "given full support." (AP)
