After voicing his objection to the recent actors' boycott on
the new Ariel cultural center, and after signing an Israel Union of Performing Artists petition supporting theater productions in the city, singer Eyal Golan has decided to show his support for the city in yet another way and will inaugurate the new venue.
According to a Yedioth Ahronoth report, Golan approached Ariel Mayor Ron Nachman and volunteered to be the artist mounting the inaugural performance in the cultural center.

"The residents of Ariel are an inseparable part of Israel,"
said Golan, adding that he found recent statements by actors to the contrary "regrettable."
"Music is meant to serve as a bridge among people and make them happy. I would be happy to be the one inaugurating the cultural center," he said.
Mayor Nachman, on his part, said he was "delighted to hear that Eyal Golan wanted to inaugurate our cultural center. I mean to take him up on his offer and I'm sure the (concert) will be a hit. His call moved me. We are planning a very festive opening, he added."
The mayor also plans to invite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to
the event, and said he has had great comfort from the public reaction to the actors' boycott.
"I want to thank all the artists who shower us with warmth and love, these past few days. We have been bombarded with calls from artists from the entire spectrum of the entertainment industry. This is one of Israel's finest hours."
