The Israel Air Force struck three Gaza tunnels Saturday night, for the first time since the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks were launched in Washington.
Palestinian sources reported that the IAF struck targets in the Khan Younis and Rafah area. At least two Palestinians were injured and three are reportedly trapped in the collapsed tunnels.
An IDF Spokesman's Unit statement confirming the attack said that the strike targeted a terror tunnel – through which terrorists were to be transported into Israel – and two smuggling tunnels in southern Gaza Strip, adding the pilots reported hitting their targets.
The strike was in retaliation of the terror attacks which took place during the week: Tuesday saw four Israelis killed near Mount Hebron, Wednesday saw two Israelis injured near Ramallah, and Thursday saw a 12-year old girl wounded in a stoning attack at Tapuach Junction.
Rockets were fired form northern Gaza at Israel on Friday and Saturday, as well.
