Obama praises high voter turnout in Turkish referendum

US President Barack Obama praised the high turnout in the Turkish referendum on constitutional reforms. A notice issued by the White House said the president recognized the strength of Turkish democracy as reflected in the referendum.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said almost 80% of eligible voters cast a ballot. Some 58% of voters were in favor of the reforms proposed by Turkey's government. (AFP)
