Policeman killed, mufti wounded in southern Russia

Russia's Interior Ministry says a police officer was killed and an Islamic cleric was wounded in separate attacks in the volatile North Caucasus.

Magomed Deniyev, a spokesman for the ministry's branch in Chechnya, said the police officer was killed in a clash with a group of militants early Tuesday. The clash in the southern Shatoi region also left another policeman wounded. (AP)
