Minister for Minority Affairs Avishay Braverman described settlement construction as "a minor issue which should not impede negotiations."
In an interview with the London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper the minister criticized former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for disregarding the Arab peace initiative. "It's an historic initiative. It should have been embraced," he said. Braverman called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "to act courageously and to free himself from the obsolete ideological constraints." (Roee Nahmias)
