Nursultan Nazarbayev plans to remain president of Kazakhstan until at least 2020, and does not expect to face a serious rival in elections set for 2012, his political adviser told Reuters on Thursday.
"I believe he has no plans to step down, at least until 2020," Yermukhamet Yertysbayev said by telephone. "In the 2012 elections, he sees no rivals to himself and no internal threats to the system."
