Zvi Shalit to PM: Time to atone for abandoning Gilad

Zvi Shalit, the grandfather of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he wrote, "I turn to you on the eve of Yom Kippur; is it not time to atone for the horrible sin of abandoning my grandchild in captivity?"
Shalit noted that his eldest son, Yoel Shalit, was killed during Yom Kippur war, and said that "Gilad's faith does not have to be the same as Yoel's. It is in your hands to change the ending of this human tragedy and bring him home." (Attila Somfalvi)
