Peres: Turkey still our friend

President Shimon Peres confirmed that Ankara demanded he apologize for the flotilla raid as a precondition for his meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gul.

Speaking with reporters after his speech in a United Nations conference he said that the condition was unacceptable but stressed that Israel was still a friend of Turkey. (Yitzhak Benhorin, New York)
