US officials, Kadima MK, discuss settlement freeze

MK Otniel Schneller (Kadima) met with senior American officials in Israel, at their request, to discuss ways to solve the crisis facing direct talks between Israelis and Palestinians due to settlement expansion.
The meeting was slated to take place following the Sukkot holiday, but due to severe rifts between the sides, the US asked to push up the meeting. MK Schneller, who has been in constant communication with American and Palestinian officials, suggested several compromises but made clear to the US that it should not demand the Israeli government continue a full freeze on settlements.
