Israel says Yemen backed out of a chess match with its team at an international competition because of political reasons.

Aviv Bushinsky, chairman of the Israel Chess Federation, says the Yemen delegation didn't arrive to the scheduled first-round matchup with Israel Tuesday at Minsk Open 2010 tournament in Belarus. He said Israel was awarded an automatic 4-0 victory as a result of the forfeit. (AP)
