Nicaraguan diplomatic official found dead in NYC

Authorities say a Nicaraguan diplomat whose throat had been slashed was found dead in his New York apartment by his driver, who was picking him up for the United Nations General Assembly's annual meeting.
Cesar Mercado, 34, was found at 10.35 am local time Wednesday in the Bronx. Police say the driver had found the apartment's door ajar and Mercado's body lying just inside the blood-spattered apartment. New York police say the knife was on the floor next to Mercado. (AP)
