Syria has increased gasoline prices by 10 percent, citing a rise in consumption.
State-run news agency SANA says a liter of gasoline now costs 44 Syrian pounds (94 cents). The raise was announced in a presidential decree on Friday. Meanwhile, the government, which subsidizes fuel and other vital commodities, waived annual license fees on some passenger vehicles in order to dampen the impact of the hike. (AP)
