Merkel urges Germans' input on sustainable energy policy

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is appealing to Germans for ideas on how to develop a long-term sustainable energy policy, despite a public outcry against her government's decision to stick with nuclear power.
Merkel insists her government's unpopular decision to extend the life of Germany's 17 nuclear reactors is part of an overall strategy to increase the nation's sustainable energy resources. She urged Germans in her weekly Internet address on Saturday to participate in an online forum on setting an agenda for sustainable energy. The forum opens Monday. (AP)
