Peres thanks Castro for words about Jews
President Shimon Peres sent a missive to Cuba's Fidel Castro to thank him for his words about Jews. "Your unexpected words comprise a kind of surprising bridge between a difficult reality and a new horizon," Peres wrote. "This is proof that those distant from one another can be close."
In an interview with US magazine Atlantic, the former Cuban leader said Israel undoubtedly had a right to exist, and that Jews were persecuted more than anyone. (Ynet)
